Changing the standard of thinking.

Supplements and Vitamins – My New Life

PillsI used to hate taking my vitamins, and I still do. I also hated that powder my mom would mix into the milk that I’d pour onto my cereal every morning. I still hate it, but I married a super helper. She puts my pills into one of those old person pill containers on the end table for me every day of the week, and I’ve been doing much better taking everything.

What does Fatboy take?

Good question! My mom asked when they were over and I had to say,ย  “I don’t know. Beautiful puts everything in there and I take what she gives me.” Well, I’ve found out, and we’ll see if I know why I take everything, too. Keep in mind, this doesn’t include any of my enzymes (8 bottles of pills per month) or any of my aerosols or injectables.

A Renewed Effort at Porking Out

The last few days have been a second wind of my effort to hit the next BMI level. I want to wake up every day over 120lbs first and then wake up to 125lbs every day not too long after. This morning’s weigh in was 116.5 on the bathroom scale.

I’ve been shoveling cereal spoon doses of Megase several times a day so I never feel full. I ate an entire Stouffer’s stir fry-style chicken alfredo on Monday. That was a good effort, and I think that extra weight stayed with me. I’ve been pushing back 3-5 Boost Plusses per day for this week. I had 9 Double Stuf Oreos on Monday, too.

After this Skype call with a potential client, I’ll celebrate with some nachos and queso with chopped jalepeรฑos. The queso isn’t that high on calories, but the chips sure are!

Results from my first blood donation: A+ blood type and a 103 cholesterol.

Who Is Your CF Superhero?

CF SupermanThis is probably more of a guy post than most, but I was always watching cartoons as a kid while I was doing my aerosols and getting pounded on for hours on end – thousands of hours per year. I watched so many superheroes, it’s hard to not be influenced by their awesome powers and be jealous of them… to be released from your current bondage attached to that noisy compressor and go fight some real evil.

My superhero of choice: Superman! Hands down, he is the penultimate superhero for anyone who has our problems. Nothing against Christopher Reeves, but I’m talking about the Superman of the comic books. The one who could launch a rocket into space by resting it on his biceps and flexing. That Superman.

Sure, we could go back and forth for hours about their super powers and how they would transform your body and life from the perverted utopian body that everyone else comparatively enjoys, so let me just lay out why he’s my choice:

Getting Poked for Blood

This entry is part [part not set] of 19 in the series What CFers Do

Blood SampleWelcome to the first of many posts. Let’s see how far I can run with this. Suggestions are welcome, but anything I write as a result of suggestions become mine, okay? Cool – this should be fun!

I used to call the phlebotomists in the hospital “vampires” and “blood-suckers.” Let’s just say that I wasn’t very keen on those people because a lot of them suck at what they are supposed to do: draw blood. I still remember asking for one guy by name during one of my hospital stays because he did a good job.

Marcus.

I was 10.

Me and blood draws go a long way back. I’ve nearly kicked nurses out of my home for not doing a good job. I’ve called home healthcare management and asked them to not send so-and-so back out if I need a re-draw because they tried 3 times with the best veins on the planet. That gives them a big fat “F” in my book and I’d have them fired if I had my way.

I’ve even had the misfortune of having the nursing manager come over “to keep up her hours” to maintain her RN license. That woman should be banned from even looking at a hypodermic needle. Shoot, by now I could draw my own blood with a butterfly needle set-up.
